Calle de la Mar

​Calle de la Mar is one of Dénia’s most emblematic streets, connecting the city center to the port. Historically, it housed one of the main gates of the old walled city and served as a vital route for transporting goods and people between the city and the sea. In the 19th century, it played a significant role in the sultana trade, with nearby warehouses facilitating exports. Notably, in 2018, archaeological discoveries at the intersection with Fora Mur street revealed an 11th-century Islamic hotel and a Roman funerary inscription. Today, Calle de la Mar is a vibrant hub of activity, lined with colorful pubs and restaurants, making it a popular spot for both locals and visitors.
